Singularity
It has become imminent that machines are in man's life, be it simple pulleys or complex computers. Personally, I feel that the probability of the Singularity happening is rather high. Machines aid us in developing new machines that are better than the previous. Eventually, they will outsmart us and situations like that of terminator will happen. In all, I feel the need to make machines less intelligent for our own sake.

ReplyDeleteA very interesting post about the possibility of the Singularity happening but I think you need to expand on what the Singaularity actually is. It is the prediction of an inevitable event that the exponential growth of technology will lead to. It is predicted that in 2045, the intellegence of a machine could outweigh that of every human throughout the entire earth. With more an more discoveries, technological advances are coming faster and faster, with technology aiding us in the design of future technology. This will create a vicious cycle of machines of increasing intellegence producing higher level machines. Due to the incredible progress of technology, I do not think that the Singularity can be easily averted considering the impossibility of stopping the "momentum" of technological advance, something like that snowball effect, just with unimaginable consequences.

ReplyDeleteBasically, the Singularity is basically the year 2045, where it is estimated that machines will be capable of designing better versions of themselves, thus surpassing human capabilities. However, the scientist of the world should create a simpler way to 'pull the plug' on these machines. As history has proven, the side that can correctly predict movements will win. Humans think linearly while machines are able to predict better. That is why it will be impossible to stop machines after the singularity.
